Love Thursday 3

Love Thursday # 3

I know. I know. So much has happened the past month. There's too much to blog about I am just too overwhelmed to blog about it just yet. Soon. Real soon.

For now a love thursday for yesterday...

Here's a picture of my love.. Canberra from the Telsra Tower.
I love this city. It has given me so much in my three and a half years here.
I know a lot of people do not understand Canberra.
I say you've got to live it to love it.

I will post soon about my mum's visit and the many things we got up to.
Ta guys! I'm sorry for neglecting my blog.

Love Thursday #2

Another love thursday. another image of love.
This is an old picture of my dad with my eldest sister, Anj.
A dad's love for his first born. A little girl's love for her papa.
Is there anything more lovely?

***

speaking of parental love.. my mum's arriving today!!!
We're picking her up at 8 tonight and I can't wait!!!
She's finally going to see the life we built for ourselves here in Canberra.
The flat she and my dad have been so generously paying for.
The good grades we have been busting our arses for that they are making possible.
I want her to see that all their hard work is much appreciated by Larla & I.

I'm sure there'll be tons of pictures to come.

Love Thursday

Love Thursday

This concept was lifted from fellow Canberran Jean's blog. I love the concept of posting images of Love one day a week. She explains the concept so much better in her First Love Thursday post.

She originally got this concept from this site.
Thanks Jean for letting me use it! Now you can expect at least one post from me each week!

MY LOVES: summer, the beach and wearing havaianas

I am a fan of comfortable footwear and also a grateful child of the tropics.
I love my thongs (all of them) and I miss wearing them this winter.
And I love the beach. Specially those in one of my favourite places: Bohol
So for my first Love Thursday..
the moment I love so much when:
my Australian havaianas meet Philippine sand at the stretch of beach in front of Amarela Resort in Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines during my last vacation there on December '06.

NOT SO MUCH COLD... as FREEZING!

Winter has bristled in with so much gusto this year. I don't remember the previous winters here to be as severe and unpredictable as this one.
But that is still no excuse for my shameful neglect of my
blog, I know.
Especially as I have done nothing but be bored t
hese past weeks.

Here's just some of the things that I have been up to since I last updated:

I had my exams and for some reason I was so very mot
ivated to study. It's a good thing I have a group of uni friends who can be as nerdy as me. We spent an awful lot of time in the library. Hours and hours and days and days of devouring everything we need to know.. emptying the contents of the vendo machine in the student lounge and numerous smoke breaks paid off. Me & nwe with dream's kooky camera shot.
Needless to say.. we kicked our exams' arse.

* * *

Jeffrey left for LA on the last day of my exam :(
He's been there for 2 weeks now and it'll be another 2 weeks till he gets back. He's home to attend his sister's wedding and
I am missing him so much.

When he's here we talk about 6 times a day. That's if when I'm not at his room or when he's not here at my flat. We spend about 4-5 days a week together. I'm suffering from withdrawals now that's he's away. It just feels so wierd not having him here :(

We keep in touch of course.. but it's not the same. I miss eskimo kissing and his warm arms. *sniff*
With Jeff at the uni bar

But I have been trying not to shrivel up and die so I try to go out once in a while. Nwe and I went to Civic the other week to try Koko Black. The Max Brennner-ish 'chocolate salon'.
Iced chocolate mocha. It was unbelievable.

chilli chocolate. tasted a bit strange.

the novelty of this place has yet to wear off. The place is always packed! The hand made chocolates ($2.50 a piece!) look absolut
ely divine.

I have also been catching up with friends

Arscot friends (bec, Jaimee, Meghan & Sarah) came ov
er here to our flat last Friday and we had a proper girly sleepover with pyjamas, girl talk, wine and girly movies. It was a typical pyjama party only it was attended by 20+ year olds, who by the end of the night, have had too much wine. Great fun! i was practically non functional the next morning though.

After they left I took a nap and woke up 4 hours
later to go to a ...

filo party and had so much fun!! It was suppose to b
e a dinner + drinks party. It started at 7:00 PM and most of us went home at 8:30 AM!! You know how Filipinos overseas get together there are endless streams of conversation, teasing, and catching up. Between karaoke, Nintendo (the original Super Mario would u believe?!), Philippine showbiz gossip, photo ops, ghost stories, and random conversations about the Philippines (history, provinces, traditions, etc) .. we had an awesome time that could only be had with fellow Filos.

* * *

And finally.. I have been trying to organise the Melbourne trip we are having ONCE MY MUM GETS HERE. I cannot friggin' wait!!!
She's arriving on the 13 July. Less than 2 weeks to go.

I am so excited. The last time my mum came here to Oz
was when she brought me over here for Orientation Week back in '04! I distinctly remember how we both got down form the bus from Sydney and looked drearily around 'downtown Canberra' thinking that there must be some kind of mistake as this was so obviously NOT the Australian capital. She left me in a hotel after a week to forge on through to my new life alone. She didn't want to leave me as I seemed ill-equipped to be left alone in a city where I was lost, lonely and clueless.

I'm so glad that 3+ years later, she would see that I made it just fine. I am no longer lost, I know this city pretty well now. I am no longer lonely, I have made a loooot of friends since that time I didn't know a single soul here. And I am no longer clueless, I know all I need to know to survive.

And besides.. I miss my mum. She promised to cook for us all the food she used to cook for us. And I can't wait to show her off to my friends. She's such an inspirational and admirable woman.
my mum with my baby brother who just turned 18!

Hope u guys are having a great time whatever weather you're experiencing right now.
I shall bundle myself with the doona now as my feet are FREEZING!

can we wait just a minute
slow it down for a minute now baby
your talkin loud
your wilding out
dont seem like my old lady
lets go and play the song we used to play
can we reignite the flame
cause things just aint the same

we can talk about the baby
we can talk until we're crazy
we can focus on it now
or we can focus on it later
we can start another fight
we can argue and fuss all night
but i propose that we go to floor and we slow dance
SLOW DANCE
JOHN LEGEND

The Grass is always greener
when he says sorry with dinner

We had this huge fight, you know? The kind of fight that made me walk out on him so he could stew over the fact that he's done an idiotically inconsiderate thing.

I have mastered the art of making him realise his mistakes without spelling it out to him and at the same time making him repentant.
And he has mastered the art of making me forgive him.

And so he took me out to dinner in Civic.

This always gets me ... when he goes way out of his comfort zone to make me happy.

He's the type of man who won't budge when he finds a comfortable position on the bed. He's not like me who shares the same last name as Dora (the Explorer, if you must know). He breaks out in hives when he has to step outside the two mile radius of our university (where he incidentally lives and where there is also a conveniently close mall).

He hates going to Civic (which is like about a 20 minute ride from where we live) and I love just getting out of our suburb. And I have an inexplicable love for the City Centre (which isn't much really).

So knowing that nothing makes my cold heart melt than a trip to Civic he asked me out on a date.

When you're in a relationship for so long you forget how it feels to be asked out. You forget the feeling of power when you hear that quiver in a guys voice when he's asking you out, that sharp intake of breath they take right before you give your answer. I gave him some time to feel that moment of trepidation as I let my eye flicker to give the effect of uncertainty. Ha ha. I can be so mean sometimes.

Of course I let him take me out. And take me out he did.
I went out with the sweet sweet man that I fell in love.
The one that, for our first date, made genuine Mexican burritos, bought Mexican beer, and a dessert with sombreros because he knows I love Mexican food.

I guess he's heard that the bigger the sin, the bigger the penance.

I'll spare you the details of the night. You've had enough cheesiness to put you off dairy products for a while.

I'll just have you drooling over the delish food we had from Lemongrass.
I forget what we ordered but it's some of the best Thai food I've ever had. It rivals my all time favourite - Woden's
Thai Spice - in ambience, service and taste. And that's saying A LOT.

Yey!! I loved these! It's not Pad Thai.
They were even better!

Citrus sauce made my eyes pop open.
It was so good!

I started taking photos of the food with my mobile and he did too.
I said I'm going to put it in my blog.
He said he'll look at it when he's eating 2 minute noodles.
after dinner Starbucks.
Everytime we go to Civic (which, as I was saying, isn't often) we HAVE to go to Starbucks.
What can I say? He's from Cali. Starbucks coffee runs through the taps there, doesn't it?

And can I just share.. I curled my hair with Larla's curling iron (for the first time!!) for our date.
Look at how pikon I got after about an hour of doing it.

Needless to say, by the end of the night, my hair just looked like I forgot to brush my hair.
I'm hopeless at this wavy thing. I swear.

Oh well.. enough of my mindless ranting.
Wish me luck on my exams!
